Teaching in XISU
XISU employs about 50 foreign teachers every year to teach languages such as English, French, German, Russian, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Hindi, Korean, ArabicĄ The language courses are organized into listening, reading, writing, translating and conversation with the focus of training integral language skills. Some foreign faculties also teach subjects in relation to Business, Finance, Management, Accounting, Economics, International Politics, Journalism, International Trade, Tourism, etc. Following are some sample courses:

Qualifications for foreign teachers
1. Age ranging from 22-60
2. BA degree with at least two years of teaching experience or teaching certificate in relevant subjects.
3. MA with or without teaching experience
4. Native or near-native foreign language efficiency
5. Good health
Qualifications for foreign experts
1. Under the age of 65
2. With a PH.D degree in relevant fields or with a MA degree in relevant fields and with teaching experience
3. Good health
Terms and conditions:
1. Free lodging---a furnished apartment with one or two bedrooms, a living room, a bathroom and a kitchen.
2. Monthly pay depending on qualification. Foreign teachers: from 2,600 to 3,000 per month. Foreign experts: from 3,000 to 4,000 per month. The salary will be decided jointly by ICEO and the department in which the foreign faculty works.
3. If the foreign faculty has a one-academic-year contract, he or she enjoys one paid winter vacation---one month mostly from Jan. to Feb. Contract will be signed after a probational period of one month on the basis of mutual satisfactions.
4. International airfare subsidization depending on qualification.
5. Teaching load: 12-16 hours a week for foreign teachers and 10-12 hours a week for experts.
6. ExpertĄŻs involvement in academic and research activities on campus---regular seminars.

Studying in XISU
Starting in 1980, the School of Chinese Studies has been offering courses in Chinese language, history, culture, and economic development to international students. For the past 20 years the school has hosted more than 4,000 students from 30 countries including U.K., USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Australia and Belgium. It is the first and biggest of its kind in ChinaĄŻs northwest area.
